We condemn Australia’s shameful support of the recent U.S. strikes on Iran. These attacks escalate the threat of regional war and further entrench a violent imperial agenda that has already devastated countless lives across SWANA (South West Asia and North Africa).
Prime Minister Albanese and Foreign Minister Penny Wong’s alignment with U.S. aggression is not diplomacy—it is complicity. While they speak the language of “de-escalation,” their endorsement of military action reveals Australia’s true position: firmly on the side of war, not peace.
We are especially angered by Netanyahu’s framing of these strikes as part of a mission to “liberate the women of Iran.” This is a tired and dangerous narrative—one we’ve heard before in Afghanistan and Iraq. It uses the lives of Muslim women as a cover for violence, dressed up as freedom.
Let us be clear: Muslim women do not need bombs to be free. We do not need saving by those who destroy our homes, our homelands, and our families. What we need is for Western governments to stop using us as propaganda.
The West to liberate itself—from the racism, sexism, and colonial entitlement that drive these cycles of violence.
Australia’s role in enabling war while claiming to uphold human rights is hypocrisy of the highest order. If this government truly cares about justice or regional stability, it must immediately withdraw its support for U.S. military aggression—and stop endorsing regimes and rhetoric that exploit women’s lives for power.
